Do a good job of "morning inspection" of hearing aids
The so-called "morning inspection" refers to the examination of the hearing compensation status of hearing aids and children wearing hearing aids after getting up in the morning. There are four main aspects to the inspection.
(1) Does the battery voltage meet the specified requirements?
The hearing aid can only perform its best if the battery voltage is rated. Most of the hearing aids currently on the domestic market require a power supply voltage of 1.4 volts. If it is lower than this value, the quality of the emitted sound will deteriorate. Nowadays, the hearing aids are widely used in zinc-air batteries. The oxygen that catalyzes the chemical reaction of the battery comes from the air. Therefore, if the storage is not good or the use time is too long, it is easy to cause the voltage to fall below the rated voltage, which will affect the performance of the hearing aid. The general method of checking the battery voltage is to remove the battery from the hearing aid and check it with a hearing aid battery tester. If there is no tool to test the battery performance, you can also indirectly determine whether the battery has power by listening to whether the whistling sound from the hearing aid is loud, but this method is not accurate enough, because sometimes the whistle is heard when the output of the hearing aid is large. The sound still exists, but the battery voltage can no longer guarantee that the hearing aid works normally. Just like when the radio battery voltage is insufficient, although the radio switch is turned on, some noise can still be heard, but the signal of the radio station has not been received. If the performance of the hearing aid battery cannot be effectively monitored, the battery can be replaced periodically to ensure the hearing aid. Generally, the effective working time of the zinc-air battery is 7-8 days, so every other week, regardless of whether the hearing aid has a howling, the new battery is replaced on time, basically ensuring the performance of the hearing aid.
(2) Is the sound from the hearing aid normal?
Sometimes, although the battery voltage is normal, the amplification and output of the hearing aid may change due to the working state of the hearing aid itself and the smoothness of the sound hole of the ear mold. For example, in the winter in the north, the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is large, and the water droplets are easy to appear in the ear hooks and ear molds of the hearing aids, resulting in no sound or abnormal sound in the hearing aids. In other cases, there are more sputum in the external auditory canal of the children. Blocking the sound hole of the mold, affecting the conduction of sound, requires special attention. Therefore, every morning, the parents or teachers should use the hearing aid-specific earpiece to monitor whether the sound from the hearing aid is normal. If there is an abnormality, it is necessary to find the cause in time and handle it.
(3) Is there a feedback howling?
After putting on the hearing aid, the main reason for the feedback whistling is that the ear mold is not in place, and the ear mold is not fully matched with the corresponding part of the auricle. At this time, it is only necessary to re-fit it in steps. The second reason for the whistling is that as the child's age increases, the auricle becomes larger, the ear mold becomes relatively smaller, the two do not coincide, and the degree of sealing is reduced. The solution is to replace the new ear mold. The third cause of the hearing aid whistling is that the ear hook of the hearing aid or the ear hook of the ear mold is cracked. It is also possible that the ear mold hose is not well connected with the ear hook, and the sound leaks during the conduction process, and the ear hook or the hose needs to be replaced. There is also a case where the wall of the ear mold hose is too thin, and when the output of the hearing aid is too large, a resonance sound is generated, and the thick-walled hose can be replaced. The howling of the hearing aid not only affects the wearer's own listening to the sound, but also affects the listening of other children and needs to be dealt with in a timely manner.
How sensitive is the child's sensitivity to sound listening?
There are many reasons, such as a cold, fever, upper respiratory tract infection, etc., which can lead to transient hearing loss in children. If not found in time, it will affect the learning effect throughout the day. Therefore, every morning, after wearing the hearing aid, check the child's listening condition, such as listening to the sound of the toy, the words I have learned before, and comparing with the listening level of the previous day to understand his hearing compensation. The easiest way is to let him listen to and repeat the pronunciation of the six letters m, a, i, u, s, sh. If it can be accurately repeated, the hearing aid compensation effect is basically satisfactory. If there is an abnormality, it is necessary to find the reason. It should be solved together with the hearing aid fitting staff. There are also some children who have a transient hearing improvement. At this time, they will feel excessive hearing compensation. If the hearing aid is not adjusted in time, the child may refuse to wear it. If it is used barely, it may cause the original hearing damage. Because of the age, especially the early childhood hearing aids, the children's understanding of the sound is not profound, and it is not sensitive or can not be expressed for the abnormal changes in the working state of the above hearing aids. If the morning inspection is not done, the problems cannot be found and corrected in time. The role of the hearing aid is not functioning properly, not only wasting valuable time, but sometimes causing more serious hearing damage.
